What makes a movie scary?

Halloween is only 12 days away which means only one thing: the scary movies are a coming. This year is actually light on the scary movie scene. Usually around this time of year there are 3 or 4 movies to try to scare the bejeesus out of you, but this finds us with only 2 real options. Unless you like old stale bodies, than there is still the great Halloween re-telling.

I’ve always been a fan of scary movies, I know a lot of people hate them, but they are a really great way to escape from the mundane feelings you can feel about your life sometimes, and while I don’t think these movies has some great message behind them, sometimes it’s just about some good ol’ fun!

There has always been a couple of movies that, no matter how much I watch them, still scare the crap of me.
They include:
–Halloween (the original)
–The Blair Witch Project (some people love it, some hate it. I love it!)
–The Ring (when that creepy kid comes out of the TV at the end? almost enough to make me stop watching TV!…..I said almost)

Today the theatres welcome 30 Days of Nights. Every since I saw this trailer a couple of months ago it has continue to disturb me. I am a sucker for Vampire movies (Buffy), but the vampires living where there are 30 days of darkness is a little bit to scary for me.

Next week we welcome Saw IV…its hard to believe they’ve pumped out one of those movies every year. While none of them are as smart or scary as the first one, it is kinda fun to see all the new traps that Jigsaw is able to come up with. Whatever writer thinks these up should probably monitored very closely. Check out the Saw IV trailer below, anyone want to come with me? (Don’t tell but I went to III by myself….sigh)
