Sooooo how was your Christmas break?! Was it fun? Boring? Alcohol-drenched? All the above?
Since flying home to New Brunswick just over a week ago, I don’t think I have slept more than 5 hours a night. It’s been so busy, not that I’m co
mplaining, I’m just freaking tired. Isn’t vacation supposed to be relaxing?
I kept thinking that I was going to do all these blog posts about the things I was doing, but then the days got away from me, so here is one big giant Christmas Vacation post!
The Rankin Sisters
I know it’s weird, but I love them. At their Christmas concert last week, I was easily the youngest person there, but a LOT. I honestly think most of the audience had retired before I was even born. No matter where you are, no matter how much it costs. Make sure you see the Rankin family, why they aren’t bigger stars will always be lost on me. On a semi-related note: Molly Rankin where did you go? And finally, Heather Rankin, can you please eat something. Actually more than something. Eat something loaded with fat and calories. It’s the least you could do.
Alvin and The Chipmunk: The Squeakquel
In an effort to be a cool uncle, I took the kiddies to Alvin and The Chipmunk the Squeakquel. It was easily the most painful thing I have ever sat through. And I saw the first one. Seriously, it is bad. I thought I was being a good uncle by taking them, turns out it was just the opposite. I’m telling you now, if you saw this movie and liked it, our friendship is seriously damaged. To make it up to the kids, I took them to Invictus. They had no idea what it was about, but it made me feel better about myself.
Dufflebag Theatre.
I had never heard of the London, Ontario-based theatre-troop Dufflebag Theatre before, but now that I’ve seen them live, I have to make sure everyone knows about them! I took my niece to see their show, Peter Pan when they came through town this week and we had an amazing time. A truly interactive kids theatre company, we both had tears streaming down our face from laughter. Definitely made up for Alvin and the Chipmunks. The troupe tours around the country, if you get a chance and you have kids, they are a must see. If you don’t have kids, you can see it, it would just be weird.
