Well..that was fast!
Just a few months after announcing that a Corner Gas movie was being made, we now have our first trailer and news that movie will open on December 1st. Whoever said Canadian film crews weren’t efficient.
When the Corner Gas movie was announced, five years after it wrapped up its series run on CTV, Brent Butt did it via a Kickstarter campaign. But it was different than the ones we had seen in the past. The movie was going to be made, with or without the Kickstarter funds, instead, backers were being given exclusive opportunities just for being fans. and so far. Less than a day into the campaign, Corner Gas: The Movie had collected it’s entire $100,000 goal. By the time the campaign had wrapped up, it had raised more $285,840. That’s more than most Canadian movies make during their entire run.
Now comes word that the movie will open like few movies have before. When the film opens December 3 to 7, 2014 at select Cineplex Theatres, audiences will be treated to more than a movie. For five nights only, moviegoers will be entertained by a Corner Gas experience exclusive to cinemas, including a warm up show hosted by Brent Butt! The warm-up show wraps with an exclusive rendition of “O Canada†performed by award- winning singer-songwriter, Del Barber, and his band The Profiteers.
