‘Twas a few weeks before Christmas and all through The Core, not a creature was stirring…but the party-goers definitely were!
The second annual ‘Twas the Night private shopping event recently took over The Core and while I’m still cycling through my favourite photos of the beautiful night, I can tell you that it was an awesome party that featured amazing fashions, totally cool celebrities and deals, lots and lots of deals.
The night featured CTV personality Jessi Cruickshank, who returned to the city where she was born and was greeted by a long line of guys and gals who waited patiently to get their photo with her on the red carpet. Fans of the fashion forward were excited to get the opportunity to share the red carpet with the Editor-in-chief of Elle Canada Noreen Flanagan too.
Between the lighting of the 40-foot Christmas Tree, performances by the Alberta Ballet, Calgary Fiddlers and Calgary Boys Choir, it’s tough to pick just one highlight. But I can tell you one of the most unforgettable moments of the night was definitely seeing the reveal of famed designer Paul Hardy’s “Tweet Dress.†For weeks, people were asked to tweet #styleyyc, then Paul designed a dress inspired by those tweets. It was unveiled during ‘Twas the Night, which also happened to have indoor fireworks. Cool features of the dress included the Calgary Skyline, the Stampeders Logo, some fantastic leather pieces and, of course, actual tweets of why Calgary was so stylish. I’ve definitely never seen anything like it!
Besides the food, fashion and music, the night also raised a ton of cash, which the proceeds from each ticket going to benefit two charities: The National Music Centre and the United Way’s BeCause organization.
‘Twas the Night has quickly become one of my favourite holiday traditions, can’t wait for next year!
