The Tragically Hip are on their final tour. We all know the drama that surrounded the ticket sales for these shows. Selling out almost immediately after going on sale, a lot of Hip fans were out of their final chance to see their boys play. [The scalper discussion is a whole other raging conversation – that definitely should be addressed, but not in this post.]
Since the tour has started, your Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat and Twitter have probably been exploding with photos and videos of the shows. It looks amazing! CBC is giving all Canadians and humans of the world a chance to see the show live on Saturday night (August 20).
This is the date that the Hip will be back in their hometown of Kingston, Ontario. It may possibly be the largest live viewing of a Hip show – ever. And when I say LIVE, I mean live. There will be no on demand or streaming playback of the full event after (so either prep your PVR or be in front of the TV for start time).
The Tragically Hip: A National Celebration will be live and commercial free at 8:30 p.m. ET  across CBC, CBC Radio One, CBC Radio One on SiriusXM Channel 169, CBC Radio 2, CBCMusic.ca/thehip, ICIMusique.ca, CBC Music’s YouTube channel and Facebook page, and the CBC Music app on iPhone, iPad and Android devices as well as the new CBC Music app on Apple TV.
There are a ton of bars, restaurants and venues across Canada that are going to be showing the concert as well. So if you would like to see it with other people, you can! The CBC has posted an extensive list of venues across Canada that are going to be showing the concert. From New Glasgow to Ladysmith – they’ve got you covered. There are even some international locations listed. You can see the full list here.
It’s a very sad and exciting time to be a Hip fan, and hopefully all the fans are making the most of their final time with Gord.
