Will this be the show that finally makes hockey interesting for me?

Check out the trailer for the W Network’s new series Hockey Wives.

I’m completely torn on this show. It’s sort of like when The Real Housewives of Orange County premiered all those years ago and it was actually a pretty good reality show, that felt more like a documentary. It was all about the trials and tribulations of being super wealthy, which while I’m jealous, is an interesting subject matter.

Parts of Hockey Wives looks like it could be interesting. It can’t be easy trying to raise a family knowing that your husband could be traded at any moment. But there could be hints of the silly fake-drama that as engulfed the Real Housewives franchise, which would be a shame.  I am interested to see how the women treat each other, because I’m guessing the one on the ice isn’t the only game that’s being played.

I will say that this show doesn’t do anything for stereotypes for the type of women hockey players marry. Sure I know it’s a TV show and producers probably looked for the most beautiful wives, but it’s interesting to note that there isn’t a plain jane in sight, now that would be a refreshing take on hockey stereotypes!

Hockey Wives premieres Wednesday, March 18 at 10 p.m. ET/PT
