I’m finally back in Calgary and I’m not feeling too good about it. I kinda feel like I had to leave the party early. My last few hours in Vancouver were fairly eventful. First, I got to hold the actual Vancouver 2010 medals! What an experience. The medals were suprisngly heavy and made a lot of noise when it slipped out of my hand and slammed onto the counter. Whoops!
By the time I left the Canadian Mint, the lines were over 5 hours long! Yikes!
After seeing the medals, I went to check out the new viewing platform for the Olympic cauldron. I love that the story of the ten foot fence has become more exciting than the actual cauldron. The new viewing platform was awesome. You were able to get so close that you could really feel the heat. The lines were long again, but they moved fast because people were just taking pictures. It definitely helped the waiting that it was a beautifully sunny day in Vancouver too.
Then, like all things, my time in Vancouver had come to an end.
I didn’t think I would be as sad as I am to be leaving the games. I just went through all my pictures and I can’t believe all the things me and my friends were able to do. Looking back, I can definitely say that the Vancouver 2010 games kicked my ass!!
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about all my adventures at the Olympics. Maybe CTV has seen enough to fly me out to London in 2012 or Russia in 2014….
