Over the next couple of days thousands of Canadians will descend upon Newfoundland for what will be Canada’s second biggest party of the year. (Sorry Junos, you are no Olympics.)
But just like the Olympics, these same people are going to do whatever they can to reduce the environmental impact of their celebrations.
CARAS (the guys behind the Junos), just announced that they are working with Strategin Solutions to develop a comprehensive strategy designed to continuously improve the sustainability of the Juno awards. That is a lot of big words that really mean that the Junos are going green!
Some of the initiatives that will be taken on include partnering with Me to We Style. The forward-thinking company have made all the Juno branded apparel with organic cotton and viscose from bamboo. I have no idea what viscose is, but how cool does it sound?!
Bullfrog Power is also providing the 100% green electricity for all 2010 Juno Week events. Plus Carbonzero is generously provided carbon offset credits sufficient enough to offset travel related emissions of all CARA, Insight and CTV personnel.
Now let’s just hope that the celebrities don’t use fourteen towels a day and I think we can all have a Juno celebration with as al little impact as possible.
