“Sometimes things have to get worse before they get better.”- LC
Sounds sorta like my prom night 😉

It has been three months since we last saw the girls from the Hills, not that they’ve disappeared from the tabloids though! Luckily MTV inundated us will all things Hills all weekend, so if you were like me, you were able to catch up!

The shows fourth season starts off right away with the revelation that Lauren finally lands herself a date. Hopefully that means that she will lay of criticizing her friend’s boyfriends, at least for one episode! Whitney generally seems surprised that Lauren has a date saying that “it is a small world” since she is dating someone Lauren has already dated (and went to prom with!) when she was 18 years young. I on the other hand, don’t think it really counts as a small world when your life has it’s own casting director.

The first date with Doug goes well even though he starts it off with a cheesy “hey babe”. I feel like it should be noted what Doug’s origins are. Apparently his grandfather invented the frozen burrito. Who knew that there would be so much money in a frozen food products? Especially a burrito?! I don’t think I have even ever had a fresh burrito! The date is confusing to me mostly because Doug seems to pretend that he doesn’t know that Lauren is a “big deal” when he asks her “what have you been doing for the last four years of your life?” Um…I don’t know, doing a reality show, you know, the one you are on? It’s called doing your research Doug!

On the other side of town, even though they haven’t talked to Lauren in over a year, Spencer and Heidi are still on her show…“Sometimes things have to get worse before they get better.”- LC

On the other side of town, even though they haven’t talked to Lauren in over a year, Spencer and Heidi are still on her show. It seems like it will only be a matter of time until Lauren’s postman gets his own scenes. What about the girl who walked by Whitney once? Anyway, Heidi’s sister Holly makes a surprise visit, but not before we find out that Heidi still works at Bolthouse! Doesn’t leaving your boss in Vegas and going home with your boyfriend and seemingly quitting being project manager get you fired? Not when you are on a reality show and your boss wants free publicity. Ahhh Hollywood. Despite Spencer’s best efforts, Holly thinks the visit went well and makes plans to move to LA to be closer to her sister! Spencer is less than thrilled, mostly because someone else will be occupying his screen time.

Then we have the epic battle royale that is Audrina and Lo. Or as I like to think of it: the casted friend vs. the childhood friend. Lauren is surprisingly unselfish when she hosts Audrina’s 23rd (plus one for good luck) Birthday Party. I think one of my favorite moments was when Audrina’s friends started showing up and let’s just say they definitely did not grow up in Laguna Beach. Mohawks, leather pants and piercings oh my! Before the party even begins Audrina says the following about Lo: “Lo is always super bitchy, that is just how she is”. You know it’s going to be on like Donkey Kong!

Lo later retaliates when after getting a look at Audrina’s friends she declares: “we are just going to have enjoy the company that comes”. Things only get worse when after spending the whole party upstairs playing with their puppy, Lo decides that a friendship intervention is in order at the request of Lauren.

When Lo heads over to Audrina’s apartment the girls use a lot of “I thinks” and “I feels”, but the girls decide after only listening to themselves that there is nothing that either can (see: want) to do. Audrina puts the final nail in the friendship-coffin when she boldly declares: “It seems like there is an attitude, I don’t even care, we are never going to be friends”

And with that the first episode of the Hills fourth season premiere has come to end. We are treated to “This Season on The Hills” and boy does it look good. And I’m not just talking about when Audrina goes skinny-dipping in Lauren’s pool!

Thanks for coming back into my life Lauren & co. Hanging out with my real friends was getting too expensive anyway.
