By now, you’ve probably heard of the Harlem Shake dance videos that have essentially taken the internet by storm. They started popping up early last week and in that span of time, YouTube, Twitter in Facebook were bombarded with people dancing to Baauer’s Harlem Shake. But almost as fast as they came, so did people complaining about the videos, calling them annoying and saying that they are over them.
But do you know what? I’m totally not over them. I think they are fantastic. They are quick, they are funny, very creative, lots of people dancing and most importantly, people are getting along! Seriously, what’s not to love? Sometimes I get so frustrated with how quickly people try to hate on things , can’t people just let other people do their thing? I mean really, are you really going to waste your energy being annoyed by thirty second videos? And if so, why watch? You can just ignore them, you know?
Here in Calgary, like every where else, the trend is becoming more and more popular and I, for one, welcome it! Check out the above video, where even I joined in on the fun with the Breakfast Television gang! (See if you can spot me.)
