Do you know what October 21, 2015 is? It’s the day Marty McFly travelled to in Back to the Future II.*
They had cool things like hover boards, video conferencing, 3D movie theatres and flying cars. While we still don’t have the flying cars and hover boards (can someone please get on that?) a lot of the ‘futuristic’ things in the movie are now normal pieces of our everyday lives.
I’m going to bet that there were a lot of things in the movie the writers imagined that world having that maybe didn’t make it into the script. Most of the things they created were to make the characters lives easier. Instant pizza, wireless devices…e-insurance… Okay, so maybe they didn’t have e-insurance, but I’m sure it was a reasonable thought that by 2015 it would be easier to purchase insurance than the old antiquated way of paper forms and talking to real people. Who wants to do that? Not me.
Esurance is an Allstate company that is doing that. They’ve been in the U.S. since the late 1990s and launched in Alberta earlier this year?
Day or night, weekday or weekend, you can go online, research options, access information and even make your purchase online. Seriously, what did we do before online shopping?
One of the best things about Esurance is if you hit a road block and really don’t know what coverage you can get…you can access real live people by phone 24/7 if you have a question. Let’s not pretend we know everything, a little double check never hurt anyone.
They have a couple of other fun tools for policyholders on the site as well, if you need help with your plan, or if you just want to see how much your neighbour with the sports car pays in comparison to you. The Coverage Counsellor™ is a tool that suggests coverage to think about based on answers to a few questions. And my personal favorite, the What If™ Calculator, a tool that uses technology to give personalized online estimates of how events like crashes/bad decisions might lower or raise one’s premium.
These things may not be as cool as a hover board, but they’re pretty close. And who knows, maybe we will get the hover board before October 21. Sure that’s a week away, but a guy can dream can’t he!?

*Yes, take a breath. We are really that old now.
Outstanding post, you have pointed out some wonderful points, I likewise think this s a very good website.
Always loved the start of BTTF 2, classic!
My favorite Back to the Future movie is the original. In fact we’re going to see it tonight. It is my brother’s 50th birthday today and he and I absolutely loved the movie. So I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate his 50th and going to see the original BTTF and we are bringing his 19-year-old son along with us and our 80-year-old Dad. It should be a blast!
