It’s December. The weather is officially starting to get a little gloomy and although you have been putting it off, it’s probably time to haul out the winter jacket and finally get that automatic car starter installed. Winter is here.

It’s also the time for coffee chains to capitalize on people’s need to warm their bodies with their ‘holiday drinks’. Why? I mean, I don’t know about you, but I already need at least one cup of coffee a day – there is no need to put a bunch of ‘flavours’ that aren’t even real in with the delicious taste of Colombia. If I wanted to taste gingerbread, I would have a gingerbread cookie. Actually, I would have 5 gingerbread cookies and be much more satisfied.

Nabob is keeping their brew the way I like it, real. I haven’t connected with an ad as much as I have with this one:

I sat on my couch and fist pumped while screaming, “Yes. YES!”  Nothing makes me more happy than realizing other people agree with my preference. Plain is best.

Nabob is asking people to get on board and #RespecttheBean this holiday season. What does that mean?  It means decorating something besides your coffee. I don’t expect anyone to go Clark Griswald on their homes, I don’t have that kind of time, and I don’t expect you to either. So what could you do, to get festive and not ruin your coffee? I’d start with your desk:

Decorate your computer screen:

NABOB 1Garland around the screen, maybe some lights. If you just want to decorate one thing, this should be it. Some holiday cheer in your peripheral vision all day everyday.

Gift wrap your desk:

Does your office have a liberal stance on how out of control you can go with decorations? Do you work in a back room and only talk to the mailroom guy? This could be your decoration. It is recommended however, that you do not wrap things you need to use. Or do. It’s up to you.

North Pole:

Do you have a pole in your office? A structural pillar? Why not make your office the destination of all things jolly.

Make your desk your living room:

NABOB 4What do you put in your living room during the holidays? A tree? A stocking? Why not at your desk! You can even turn your desktop screen saver to the Yule Log. I can hear Chestnuts Roasting from here.

Gingerbread house:

NABOB 5Maybe you have already done the desk giftwrap. It went over well with your colleagues, bosses, and even the office enforcer. This year you could take it one step further, really push the boundaries of the holiday spirit, and go full gingerbread. Plus, if you work in a cubicle you will be building yourself that much more privacy!

Coffee mug:

NABOB 6Maybe you work in an office of Scrooges. You have some sort of office code that prohibits holiday cheer in the office. Don’t let that stop you! Drink your brew from a holiday mug. That should keep you going.

Now it’s your turn!  I challenge you to decorate anything but your coffee!  When you do, tweet @NabobCoffee, using the hashtags: #RespectTheBean #Whatdoyoudecorate

There are already some great ideas out there!
