Canada has lost a musical legend.

Composer Donald Himes has died at 80 years old. You may not know his name, but it is safe to say that his music will never be forgotten. After all, he is probably best known for writing the theme song to Mr. Dressup. There’s no way you could call yourself a Canadian without being able to at least hum-along with the theme of the CBC masterpiece. Just listening to the music today makes me flash back to countless hours spent watching Mr. Dress Up, Cassy, Finnegan and the entire gang!

What’s your favourite Mr. Dress Up memory?

  1. It’s weird…if you asked me five minutes ago if I watched Mr. Dressup as a child I would have said no…but the theme song seems so oddly familiar it’s as if I did nothing else throughout those years.
