Going to Prom is one of those that celebrations that almost every high school student gets to experience. It’s so iconic that almost every teen movie is about going to a prom of some sort. But for many LGTBQ people, going to prom with their date of choice, wasn’t an option.Â
And luckily for them, there’s a new event called Re-Prom.  Â
Re-Prom is a gala event for LGBTQ2S+ adults and allies to re-experience prom on their own terms and it’s being presented by Calgary’s Centre for Sexuality.  It’s been a while since I graced the hallways of my high school, but I understand that in most schools, it’s becoming more and more acceptable to go with the partner of your choosing, which is truly fantastic. But if you didn’t get a chance to, this is your chance to celebrate prom on your terms, and even better, you’re old enough to just buy your own drinks.Â

Now, I was lucky because I actually loved my prom date. Her name was Vanessa and we had a blast. In fact, we’re still great friends, and over the holidays, I got the chance to hang out with my original prom date, and my “new†prom date.

The first ever Re-Prom takes place on February 29th, at the Hyatt Regency. And it will feature a delicious dinner, live entertainment, signature cocktails, photo booths, candy buffet, DJ and dancing.
And tickets are on sale right now! Â
