With Big Brother Canada coming off a huge finale, it’s time we turn our attention towards The Amazing Race Canada, which as timing would have it, just announced July 15th as its premiere date on CTV.  The network also announced what the teams are actually racing for, the winners will receive $250,000 cash, free Executive First Class airfare for a year courtesy of Air Canada and two 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingrays.  I gotta say, that’s a pretty sweet prize.

But who is the host?!?

But it’s not just the premiere date I’m excited about, a few days ago, tweets starting popping up online of lucky Canadians watching the inaugural season happen right before their very eyes. Maybe this is why so many countries rely on international destinations for their teams, as opposed to the all Canadian version we’ll be Canada. After twenty-two seasons of The Amazing Race, savvy canucks can spot the teams almost immediately and judging from these tweets, producers weren’t exactly trying to be sneaky. So far teams have been spotted in Niagra Falls, Pearson Airport in Toronto and enroute to Vancouver. I’m hoping this doesn’t mean that they are skipping the maritimes….

UPDATED: According to some more twitter accounts, Amazing Race Canada has it’s first celebrity couple….yup, Hal Johnson and Joanne Mcleod from Body Break made the cut. Well, at least according to those who think they saw them in Kelowna and Vancouver. (Thanks to my friend Ian for the tip!)

In case you missed it, here’s their audition tape.

UPDATE:
The teams have now been spotted in Calgary!

So what do you think, are you excited for The Amazing Race Canada?
