Well it’s finally here, The OWN network made its splashy debut in Canada today, two months to the day after the Americans! The always humble Oprah has been teasing her new network on the VIVA channel for the past eight weeks with previews of what we can expect to see but earlier this morning, VIVA officially signed off and handed over the reigns to Oprah, Gayle and the rest of the Harpo gang!
So what can you expect to see on OWN? Well for one, there is actually a little bit of Canadian network on the country’s newest channel. Anna & Kristina’s Grocery Bag, Fearless in the Kitchen and Healthy Gourmet all made the cut, but none of those shows are the reason why I’ll be clicking over to OWN at least once a week.
Nope, that honour goes to the ridiculously addictive series: Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes. Full context: I’m obsessed with about how shows are produced and this show feeds my craving more than anything I’ve ever seen before. The series essentially is an extremely up-close look at how the show is put together. Told from the perspective of dozens of Oprah’s producers, the docu-series gives you great insight in what it would be like to work for the world’s most powerful woman. It is Oprah after all, so don’t expect to see her go crazy (or let you see it, ) but it really is fascinating to see how segments come together or fall apart.
