We are still waiting for our hoverboards and all the other great things we saw in Back to the Future II, but Nike announced on Tuesday that it will be giving 89 lucky people a pair of the power lace shoes – first seen in the movie in 1989. Yes, that is correct.
Nike Mags will have ‘power laces’ like in the movie! So there are only 89 pairs…they must go to the highest bidder, right? Wrong. Nike is doing a raffle for the 89 pairs. For $10 (and a $1 processing fee) you can be entered to win. (Click here to enter!)
You can buy as many tickets as you would like, with all the proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. The raffle opened on October 4 and will close on October 11. Winners will be notified on the 17th. YOU DON’T HAVE MUCH TIME!
That’s pretty f’ing awesome Nike. Pardon my language, but you finally figure out how to make a shoe that you could make a killing off of and instead you give the money to the foundation of the man that made the very idea of them famous. Classy. I mean, they will be auctioning a few pairs off in New York, London and Hong Kong according to Dezeen, but they’re only making less than 100 pairs.
Classy – and a winning marketing campaign if I ever saw one. Now, who do we talk to about the hoverboards…
