If you see  Blockbuster employees wandering the aisles of Home Depot, they are probably looking for the nails to finish off their coffin.

Here’s why:

US Movie giant Netflix has just announced that they are finally coming to Canada.  But if you are one of Zip.ca’s three subscribers, don’t worry.  Instead of mailing out DVDs, Netflix will only be streaming movies and tv shows.  Now that you don’t have to even get off of your couch, I can’t see Blockbuster lasting much longer. (True story: I still rent movies there, regularly.)

Starting this fall, Netflix will be offering Canadians unlimited movies and TV episodes streamed instantly to TVs and computers for one low monthly fee.

No word on the price yet, but with over 13 million subscribers in the States, the product has proven to be successful.

If your ears are already peaked and don’t want to miss anymore announcements,  you can go to www.netflix.ca and sign up to receive an email from the company when the service launches in Canada this fall.

Thanks Blockbuster, it has been a blast!
