A few weeks after the so-so selling release of her latest album The Spirit Indestructible, Nelly Furtado is proving that her spirit is indestructible by announcing a big Canadian tour. The slower sales of the album have had an effect on the tour though, with Furtado trading in stadiums for auditoriums, but you know what? I think I’ll like her more in a smaller space. Just cause you’re a pop star does not mean you need to play into the abyss that is a stadium. Her tour sees her playing in some really great spaces, which I think will be great for her fan base. It’s been six years since the “I’m like a bird” singer released her last English language album, so those fans have certainly been clamouring for some Nelly.

The tour will kick off in Furtado’s hometown of Victoria on the eighth day of 2013.

Here are the dates:

Jan. 8 – Victoria, British Columbia, Save On Foods Memorial Centre
Jan. 9 – Vancouver, British Columbia, Orpheum
Jan. 12 – Calgary, Alberta, Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium
Jan. 14 – Medicine Hat, Alberta, The Esplanade
Jan. 15 – Edmonton, Alberta, Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium
Jan. 18 – Winnipeg, Manitoba, MTS Centre
Jan. 19 – Thunder Bay, Ontario, Thunder Bay Community Auditorium
Jan. 21 – Ottawa, Ontario, National Arts Centre
Jan. 24 – Toronto, Ontario, Sony Centre For The Performing Arts
Jan. 26 – Windsor, Ontario, Caesars Windsor “The Colosseum”
Jan. 28 – Hamilton, Ontario, Hamilton Place Theatre
Jan. 29 – Kitchener, Ontario, Centre In The Square

The tour will also feature special guests Dylan Murray and Degrassi’s Jessica Tyler.
