My secret affair: Canon G10

I’ve been having a secret love affair.  Will you cringe if I tell you it is a camera?  More specifically, the Canon G10.

(You should note, this isn’t a paid review or anything like that.  I bought the camera with my hard-earned money, but after months and months of getting comments about the camera and it’s pictures, I thought I should share my secret.)

The reason I got the G10 was simple.  I hated going to red carpet or other media events with a point and click camera, but I’m too lazy to figure out how an SLR works. Plus, who has the money to buy Adobe photoshop?  Certainly not me. Other than that, I knew I wanted a Canon.  I’m from a Canon family, it is all I’ve ever own and because of that, it is all I’ve ever loved.

While visiting in Vancouver this past weekend, I was able to capture some really great shots.  And because I’m not a douchey photographer that takes 6 hours to take one picture, only to go home and photoshop the life out of it, all the pictures were taken relatively quickly.

My favourite feature of the Canon products has always been the Colour Accent.  This is where your camera picks one colour in the frame and highlights it, while making the rest of the picture black and white.  You can how I used it to take a picture of the yellow canoe.

With summer coming up and if you are looking for a new camera, I can’t recommend the Canon G series enough.  It is a little pricey (around $500), but considering how easy it is to use and how great your pictures will look, you don’t really have another choice.
