Calgary Stampede, Folk Fest, cultural festivals, we all know that there’s lots to do in Calgary during the summer. But with Labour Day behind us, it’s officially time to start looking ahead into September for cool events that’ll keep us busy and having fun, even if the days are getting cooler

One of those events happens to be taking place this weekend. Mini Maker Faire is being bill as the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth – a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning. You can get a sneak peek at the some of the “Makers” here.

It’s taking place this Saturday from 10:00 am to 6 pm on the RiverWalk in the East Village. (Side note: Is that place becoming the most popular place for events in the city?!) For food, you’ll be able to enjoy Food Trucks a plenty with the attenadance of The Bass Bus, Bluesmobile, Mighty Skillet, Fiasco Gelato, Holy Crepe, Spud Mobile & Braizen.

I’m super happy to say that Mike’s Bloggity Blog is a Community Sponsor for this event, because I think it’s really great to get out and learn new things and meet new people in this city, especially when it involves food. Sorry, I love food. If you’re looking for something to do with your family that’s excessively more interesting than another bad kids movie, then you should definitely check out Mini Maker Faire.

Tickets to the event are only $15 and can be purchased on EventBrite.

Or, you can win tickets here. I have a pair of tickets to give away. All you have to do is leave a comment telling me about your dream invention. What do you wish existed that would make life easier?

I’ll do the draw on Friday, September 7th at noon.
