We’re only a few weeks away from my the premiere of my favourite Canadian reality show and I couldn’t be more excited.
Today, Top Chef Canada made some big announcements, including this year’s cast!
As someone who cannot cook, why I’m so fascinated with this show has always come as surprise to anyone that has ever ventured into my kitchen. How could I love a show about cooking food, when my one and only dish is a stir-fry? Well, I think because I don’t know how to cook and I still find this so exciting, is testament of just how good it is!
Before we get to the judges, let’s talk about the prize, which I believe is one of Canada’s biggest. The winning chef gets a grand prize of $100,000, a kitchen worth $30,000, a custom installation worth $25,000. Seriously, that’s crazy.
The hosts and judges will remain the same as season two Lisa Ray will host and she’ll be joined by Head Judge, chef and restauranteur Mark McEwean and LA restauranteur Shereen Arazm.
But this season, the panel will also see its fair share of celebrity guest judges, including WWE Champion Trish Stratus, Jann Arden, Russell Peters, Survivorman Les Stroud, The Real Housewives of Vancouver and Food Network host David Rocco.
Now, to the good stuff: The chefs! This season, 16 chefs will compete for the title of Top Chef Canada. There are three from Calgary, five from Toronto, five from BC sadly and only one from Atlantic Canada.
You read the chef’s bios here. Although, warning, don’t do it on an empty stomach. I’m hungry just seeing the wonderful restaurants they’ve worked at!
I reserve judgement on picking my favourite, I usually have to watch an episode or two. But clearly, I’m biased towards the three Calgary chefs!
Top Chef Canada premieres on March 18th!
