Juno Awards Preview: Who will win Video of the Year?

In the coming weeks, I thought it’d be fun to highlight some of my favourite categories at this year’s Juno Awards, which take place in April in Regina.

So let’s kick things off with the always fun Video of the Year category. I always pay attention to this category, mostly because, since it’s not genre specific, there’s always a ton of variety in the categories.

Here are this year’s nominees:

So who is going to win? Honestly, this one is tough. Because a couple of the videos are like little movies, which are always favourites among voters. But other are hugely creative and have generated a ton of buzz. I guess it’ll really boil down to how cool are the Juno voter, or more importantly, how cool do they think they are?

If you’re going on views, Of Monsters and Men easily takes it with over 50 million views. Drake takes second with 12 million and Walk off the Earth is not terribly behind with 7 million views. Great Big Sea’s front man Doyle, is in last place with just 7,555 views.

Also of note, Margaret Malandruccolo is nominated twice in this category, that’s quite a feat considering how many videos are made every year in this country!
