It’s Monday morning.
2 coffees later.
My body feel as if it has beaten by a Juno.
But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
A lot of people who weren’t in Vancouver this weekend will probably dismiss the Junos after watching Sunday’s telecast, where Nickelback cleaned up nicely, as practice is celebrating a band who no one will admit to liking.
But what many people don’t realize is that the Junos are more than just the two hour ceremony. It is really four days of canadians getting together to celebrate great Canadian music. And in industry that is more dire than Danny Bonaduce’s career, that’s a good thing. For me this weekend was more than just meeting some crazy famous people. It was about discovering some great new musicians who are just trying to do what they are meant to do. That is cooler than any pyrotechnics or celebrity sighting.
Special shout out to Holmes Creative Communications for the awesome weekend. I’m going to be honest, I don’t really know what they do (because they seemed to do and know everything). But I know that all the events were super organized and I kinda wish I could hire them to manage my sometime sad-sack of a disorganized life. Tiffany, Chris, Sam, Erica, Char, Kathy and everyone else, thanks for giving a blogger a chance!
The Junos will be kicking ass in the St. John’s next year and if it’s in your budget, make it a priority. And please buy and check out Canadian music!!!!
