You probably didn’t know this, but Cityline is Canada’s longest running daytime show! Well, you might know that if you lived in Toronto, because while the show technically airs across the country, it’s always had a certain Toronto-feel to it, you know? Well that all changes this week, when for the first time ever, the show hits the road and heads west for a series of tapings in Calgary and Edmonton.

The show’s host, Gemini-nominated Tracy Moore spent the last few days in Calgary, getting to know the city that’s busy getting ready to celebrate The Calgary Stampede’s 100th birthday. Before she started taping her shows, I got a chance to talk her about why Cityline came to Calgary and why she feels a responsibility to bring a little piece of this city back home to Toronto.

Bloggity:Welcome to Calgary, have you been here before?
Tracy: Me, personally no. We came here once before to shoot a segment. But it was so fast, it was three days, I didn’t really get to hang out in the city, so this has been awesome. I’ve been here for a few days, shooting fun stories around town. Then I ran a 5k.

Bloggity: What? Why?
Tracy:
Just because I like to run.

Bloggity:That’s crazy.  What can we expect to see from the Cityline segments here in Calgary.
Tracy:
Well, you’re going to see me learn how to ride a horse with the Stampede Princesses. And they taught me the wave Mike, they taught me the wave! You’ll see me biking in tandem with Breakfast Television’s Jill Belland and then we tried rafting. But we’re so stupid, we can’t get anywhere. It shouldn’t have been that hard, but we just couldn’t do it. You’ll see me bobsledding with the Canadian National team. it was awesome, we had the gear on and everything. When we got on, I screamed like baby!

Bloggity: Do you feel like there’s a responsibility to show Toronto the different parts of Calgary.
Tracy:
Yes, I feel like there’s an obligation to show them Calgary, period. You know, people think Alberta, they think Banff, oil and cowboy. I think what is most striking for me is that everyone I’ve met, I’ve been able to have a normal and real conversation with. No superficiality, no peeling back the layers. I feel like I’ve made some really good connections and that’s what I’m going to take away and I hope when people watch the Cityline shows that we do here, that they get the vibe. There’s such a buzz here with the Stampede. And then when we get to Edmonton, I hope we can find the same thing.

Bloggity:It’ll be a little harder to find. Have you heard of other city’s that Cityline will be visiting?
Tracy:
I don’t know. I want Vancouver, I want Montreal and Halifax. I want to get out to wherever we can. I feel like this is just the beginning and that we should do it every year!

Bloggity: Can I just say that your arms are INSANE?!
Tracy:  Thanks, I’ve been working so hard! Yeah, I wish I could just roll out of bed and say, “Look at how cute and fit I am.” But no. Hair, make up, wardrobe, working out every day and eating the most boring food on the planet. That’s what it’s about.

Bloggity:You make TV sound awesome.
Tracy: I’m all about no smoke and mirrors.

Bloggity:But you are a lot of fun!
Tracy: I really do enjoy my job and I always tell people that you’ll know when I stop enjoying it because you’ll be able to see it. I’m not a good actress.

The Cityline Alberta shows will air beginning the week of July 2 at 9 a.m. on Citytv.
