So I can’t even begin to imagine how this happened, but the first single off of Simple Plan‘s fourth upcoming album is a duet with British superstar Natasha Bedingfield. It’s called Jet Lag and you can the airport-themed video above. This is a surprising move for her because mostly it’s not really song that can be turned into an MTV themesong…so that’s new.
Simple Plan has been gone a for a while, so it’s a little strange that they would return with just a regular ol’ tune. It feels like a sequel to ‘When You’re Gone‘, the classic duet with Mel C and Bryan Adams. And sequels are never as good as the original. It’s not a particularly bad song, but given that both of these artists are used to pumping out infectious singles, it’s surprising how unmemorable ‘Jet Lag’ can be.
But the video has got my mind racing about what other Canadian duets that I’d like to see, here’s what I’ve come up with:Â Jann Arden and Sarah Slean, Royal Wood and Jill Barber, Fefe Dobson and Neil Young, Tom Cochrane and Bryan Adams with Gorden Lightfoot, Michael Buble and kd Lang.
What’s your dream duet?
