I wanted to take a moment to wish the timbit a very happy 35th birthday! Yes, it’s been 35 years since the original mini-donut made its debut in Tim Hortons.
So do you have your favourite? I’d have to say mine are honey dip and chocolate glazed, but right now there are currently more than 35 varieties of Timbits and this month Tim Hortons introduced the first two new flavours in more than five years: Banana Glazed and Blueberry Glazed. I think I’ll pass on those and stick to what I know.
To celebrate the birthday, Tim Hortons asked Top Chef Canada contestant Andrea Nicholson to make the perfect birthday cake…made out of timbits naturally, it total there are more than 1500 timbits, which means they went stale probably minutes after this picture was taken.
For me, timbits are that go to food, whether it’s to celebrate a new job, win over those cranky co-workers, forget about that bad date or get kids to shut the hell up. Come on, you know it’s not just me, we all use timbits to bribe kids.
Fun Fact: 35 years ago, Timbits cost five cents, compared to twenty cents today!
Happy Birthday Timbits!
