“Hamilton is coming to Calgary.”
I remember the first time I read that headline in back in 2019. I can remember that moment so clearly because I’ve thought about nothing since then. Yes, even though the world has been turned upside down a million different ways, I always kept my eyes on the prize: “Hamilton is Coming to Calgary.”
And now, it’s finally happening.
In case you’re not familiar, I would like to know how big that rock you live under is, but Hamilton is basically the biggest musical of our modern times. It has won Tony®, Grammy®, and Olivier Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and an unprecedented special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors.
For me, Hamilton is something special. Maybe because even though I’ve listened to the soundtrack probably 1,000+ times (no joke), and own any book about the show, even though you can watch it on Disney+, I have a Hamilton shirt and follow all the original cast on social media. But despite all of that, I’ve never seen the show. Nope. Not once. I could probably understudy every role, and I’ve yet…I’m ashamed to say that I’ve never seen it.

And I know that I’m not alone, Hamilton has millions of die-hard fans who have patiently waited through years of sold our shows in NYC and pandemic-related delays for the touring show and all of life’s obstacles.
But for many Calgarians, the time has come.
Because as of this moment, tickets to Broadway Across Canada’s production of Hamilton are on sale now.
Like this very second. I obviously want you to keep reading this post, but I wouldn’t blame you if you clicked this link to buy your tickets. Go ahead, get your tickets and come back.
You’re still here? Well here’s what you need to know:
Performances run in Calgary from July 12 to 31th, 2022 at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
Have I mentioned that tickets are on sale right now.
Prices will range from $69 – $209 with a select number of premium seats available from $239 for all performances. There will be a lottery for 40 $10 seats for all performances. Those details will be announced closer to the show’s run in Calgary.

And in case you’re curious about the health and safety protocols, Broadway Across Canada and the Jubilee Auditorium will require proof of vaccination for entry to all performances. Patrons aged 12+ are now required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Everyone aged 19+ must show government-issued photo ID with their proof of vaccination. Masks will be required for all patrons and must be worn at all times with the exception of eating and drinking at the theatre. Please visit Broadway Across Canada’s health and safety protocol page at: https://calgary.broadway.com/health/.
I think this run in Calgary will be so special. I know so many people who’ve been waiting what feels like a lifetime to see Hamilton and when the curtain finally rises, I can only imagine the emotions in the theatre. Good thing I’ll be wearing a mask so you can’t see me ugly cry.
Welcome to Calgary, Hamilton. We’ve been waiting for you.
