If you’ve ever chatted with me, read this blog or followed me on Twitter, it wouldn’t take you long to figure out that I’ve always loved supporting all the great and local businesses around Calgary. Throughout every neighbourhood of this booming city, you’ll hidden gems, well-known community staples and everything in between.
So you can imagine by joy when I was recently named one of the selected five bloggers across Canada to help create authentic and original local stories about some of Calgary’s fantastic local businesses and the innovative people behind them.
The campaign, is an initiative of Yellow Pages, called Shop The Neighbourhood  and for the next couple of weeks, I will be profiling just some of this city’s fantastic local businesses.  As you already know, the Yellow Pages is a company with a century-long legacy of working with Canada’s small businesses and this year is no different.  All these profiles will culminate in a special day celebrating neighbourhoods all across the country.  Held this year on Saturday, November 29th, in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa, Shop The Neighbourhood encourages Canadians to support the small businesses in their communities by making a local purchase on that day.
And trust me, you’ll have no problem finding something to purchase. One of the reasons I loved profiling these businesses is because even though I had been to all of them before, every time I go to them, there’s always new things to discover. And even though I was only supposed to go and learn more about the businesses, I ended up buying something or eating at every single one of them. After all, why would I pass up the opportunity to shop around all of Calgary’s great neighbourhoods?
Until then, check out the businesses I’ve profiled in the “Meet the Neighbour” section and join the Shop the Neighbourhood Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/shoptheneighbourhood
