One of the cool things about being a blogger is that you never know what you are going to get in your mailbox. Â Unless you are organized, the promo materials that get sent to you during the year can quickly pile up in your living room. Â But ever since reading The Jolly Postman on a daily basis as a kid, I’ve always loved my regular trips to my mailbox.
A lot of the time the stuff that I get is pretty boring and it makes you question the reason why PR firms even bothered spending the money on postage. Â But other times it can be quiet interesting.
Take for example this package I got from the Food Network promoting their tenth anniversary.
That’s right, a cookie! Â And PR firms should take note that I will promote the shit out of anything that involves me getting free food. Â And you better believe that cookie was as good as it looks. Â Yum, yum. Â Happy Tenth Birthday Food Network!!!! Can’t wait to finally see what Top Chef Canada is all about!
On the other end of the spectrum, I’ve gotten some really weird things. Â Even this week, I got this promo-item in support of the new Showcase show Lost Girl:The mirror which reads “The Fae Are Watching You” wouldn’t be that creepy if it had come with some sort of a press-release or something like that. Â But the envelope just had the mirror. Â And the only reason I knew that it was for the show that debuts this fall was because I was on the set and remembered them talking about Faes. Â But could you imagine some poor blogger getting this mirror in the mail with absolutely no context! Â Creepy!
Keep working ,great job!
I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the layout of your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two images. Maybe you could space it out better?
Some really nice stuff on this web site, I love it.
