In what felt like the Canadian version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Jordan Axani has found his Elizabeth Gallagher.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, well you’ve missed out on one of the greatest Canadian stories of 2014.  Axani was a Toronto man with tickets to an amazing trip around the world.  He had planned to take his girlfriend, Elizabeth Gallagher, unfortunately, the couple broke up a few months before their trip.  The breakup left Jordan in a weird position, because of silly airline rules, he had an extra ticket for someone named Elizabeth Gallagher, anyone named Elizabeth Gallagher really.

So he took to Reddit looking for a Canadian named Elizabeth Gallagher and the internet basically exploded with excitement. We buzzed about who would be the lucky girl. With a name has common as Elizabeth Gallagher, the possibilities were endless!  Fans of rom-coms hoped for a true love story, while others hoped that Jordan would choose someone that’s never been on a plane before or perhaps an energetic senior.

Well, the wait is over, Jordan has found his Elizabeth and she’s  23-year-old student and part-time office administrator from Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.

And since Jordan is 28, you might think that this might end up being a true love story, but not so fast. In a twist of Shonda Rhimes proportions, Elizabeth already has a boyfriend! Well, at least for now she does. According to an interview, her boyfriend is less than pleased that his girlfriend will be travelling around the world for a month with a stranger, but she’s going none the less. And who knows, maybe he’ll come around.  Either way, the trip “strictly platonic” trip will be documented online for all to see. The two take off on December 21st.

But that’s not the only good thing to out of this wonderfully strange story. Jordan got so many emails about people wanting to travel, that he and his brother have created A Ticket Forward, it’s a Make-A-Wish foundation for travel meets kickstarter.  So people will be able to apply for trips and then through the kindess of strangers, they’ll hopefully be able to go on a trip of a lifetime:

It’s amazing to think that all this came out of a breakup between a couple of few months ago, eh?  Oh life, what will you throw at us next?
