I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but we’re living in a golden age of entertainment. No matter how busy we are, we can now watch whatever we want, when we want. And this summer, TELUS is promising its customers the ‘power to be picky’ on any TV in their home – because, let’s face it, with so much great TV out there, your demand for quality is higher than ever. Not to mention, that no two TV fans are alike!

One of the ways to watch what you want, when you want is the ability to watch Netflix right on your TV with Optik TVâ„¢ and Internet.

Now, I’m a big fan of Netflix and consider myself a bit of an expert. I take pride in helping people find the show that’s perfect for them. And since I think Netflix has become the home of great comedy, here are some of my top picks…no matter how picky you are:

Picky about your weird comedy

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt:

Since this show debuted on Netflix in March, I’ve watched the entire first season three times. It’s delightfully strange and hilarious. What else do you expect from the mind of Tina Fey, who created the series. Kimmy Schmidt is instantly addictive.

Picky about your British comedy

Scrotal Recall

I can’t tell you why we started watching Scrotal Recall, but it probably had something to do with the hilarious name of this British series, which debuted on Netflix a few weeks ago. It’s sort of like How I Met Your Mother, except the main character is trying to track down all the people he’s slept with. But instead of being crude, this story ends up being surprisingly sweet. You’ll watch the whole thing in one night. Easily.

Picky about your dark comedy

Orange is The New Black

warning: trailer contains spoilers for seasons one and two!

Look, you don’t need me to tell you about Orange is the New Black, because chances are you’ve already heard about it. If you haven’t watched it yet, trust me, you’re missing out on one of the best television shows in recent history. Deep, layered, dark, funny and gutting, it’s truly unbelievable how good this show can be. A Netflix shining achievement for sure.

Picky about your comedians

Jen Kirkman: I’m Gonna Die Alone

Netflix is packed with a ton of stand-up specials, but this new one from Jen Kirkman, looks like it’ll be extra hilarious. I first started watching Jen on Chelsea Lately, but now I’m a fan of her and her biting type of humour.

Picky about the next big comedy

Grace and Frankie

One of the things I love about Netflix is that they take risks on shows that would never see the light of day otherwise. Gracie and Frankie is a great example of this. The hilarious comedy stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as two women who form an unlikely bond after their husbands reveal they are gay and leave them for each other. Grace and Frankie is not broad enough for regular TV, but for Netflix, it’s perfect.
