With Christmas just around the corners, you’re probably desperate for gift ideas, luckily I have a few. The fact that they all come from amazing Calgary entrepreneurs is just icing on the cake! Here are five gift ideas for Calgarians made by Calgarians!
If you’ve never heard of Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, congrats, this must be your first time ever reading this blog. I’ve been a huge MBF fan since the first time I’ve heard his music, and I think you will be too.
Bernard is celebrating his new album will an all out concert spectacle on Saturday, January 30th, 2016 at The Jack Singer Concert Hall. Tickets are only $24 and make for a great Christmas gift because it’s one that lasts a month long. Long after the Christmas tree is put away, you’ll be rocking the night away at one of the most memorable concert experiences you’ve ever witnessed!
We all know that I’m a big fan of colouring books. Add in the fact that I’m a cat fan, well specifically my cat Mindy, and why wouldn’t I love a cat-colouring book. But because this cat colouring book is made right here in Calgary by two artists Jenny Chan and Shiori Saito, it’s even more perfect! The book is only $20 and is available online and at The Uncommons.
I’ve given these ornaments to pretty much every person I know, and my tree is basically fully-adorned with these amazing hand-made ornaments. They are available from Plant in Inglewood, which is probably the prettiest store you’ll ever step into. They come in a variety of sizes and colours, but all of them are perfection. At only $8 a pop, you can’t go wrong!
Stay warm during Calgary’s six month long winters! Out of everyone in the world, I shouldn’t be doling out fashion advice, but no sock collection is complete without a pair of these warm woodies from the Calgary-based Treeline Outdoors. It’s probably gross to admit (because I only have one pair) but I wear these socks all winter. Even after washing them a ton, they hold out and are cosy as ever! They are $30 a pair and are available online and at stores like The Livery Shop and Lukes Drug Mart.
Living in Calgary, you likely like to head to the mountains and go camping…or at least you like to pretend that you could if you wanted to. These Camp Brand Goods steel enamel mugs are a perfect gift for the camper in your life. The Calgary-based company is known for their cozy sweaters and perfect t-shirts, but I’m a big fan of these enamel mugs that can used over open flame and are dishwasher safe. The mugs are available online and at The Livery shop in Inglewood.
