With so many distractions these days, a lot of people are missing out on great TV and they might not even know it! So here’s a list of my five can’t-miss shows this week on TELUS Optik TV™. With so many channels available, finding five shows is surprisingly tricky. So save some time, and start watching what’s good.

There are a lot of live events on TV this week that you need to check out (plus a Downton Abbey special!). You know what they say about live TV – you never know what’s going to happen.

Christmas at Rockefeller

Wednesday Dec 2, 2015 at 9:00 PM MST

If you like Christmas trees, then you need to watch the annual tree lighting at Rockefeller Center! Every year when they light up New York’s best tree, they do a holiday special. It’s December, so these things are now happening! It will also remind you to watch Home Alone (from that end scene when Kevin is at the tree and his mom finally finds him, it’s the best.)

The WIZ Live

Thursday Dec 3, 2015 at 6:00 PM MST

First they did the Sound of Music, then Peter Pan – and now the Wizard of Oz! Ne Yo, Mary J. Blige and Queen Latifa star in this version of the Wizard of Oz, live from Long Island.

Saturday Night Live

Saturday Dec 5, 2015 at 11:30 PM

Canadian actor Ryan Gosling is hosting this week’s episode of SNL! The musical guest is Leon Bridges, who is really great if you haven’t heard him. I am most interested to see if Ryan will be funny. He’s Canadian, so it’s in his blood.
