Great news for both the fans of the TV show Fargo and the cast and crew that worked on the show in and around Calgary!  It was announced today that hot of being nominated for 18 Emmy Awards, the show will be returning for a second season, but with a bit of a twist.  Much like the American Horror Story franchise, the show will return, but many of the cast members will not. The second season of the show will take place a few decades before the first season, which means a whole new cast!

The show’s return is undoubtedly great news for the Calgary film industry, which stood in for Fargo during the show’s first season.  I mean, yes, it’s weird that the city I live in is used as a “desolate winter wonderland”, but I know a lot of people who got to work for a few months on this production, so the fact that a show with so much attention is coming back to shoot another season, well news just doesn’t get better than that.  Calgary will also be standing in for the small towns of Luverne and Sioux Falls.

Fargo joins other hits Heartland and Hell on Wheels on the growing roster of Calgary-shot productions. Look out Vancouver!

But there is some bad news, I mean it couldn’t all be good right?  The second season of Fargo is a long way off.   Execs said today that fans shouldn’t expect to see new episodes until at least Fall 2015!!!  That seems like an awfully long time, but I guess they’ll have to wait until it’s Winter again to start filming, assuming the second season, like the first and the movie, take place in the winter time.

So are you excited!?!

  1. Hmm it looks like your site ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any suggestions for first-time blog writers? I’d really appreciate it.
