I think Elton John might be on to something.

The quintessential entertainer just announced a series of shows in some of Canada’s smaller cities. Prince George, Kelowna , Saulte Ste. Marie and Kingston will all see the Rocket Man play shows in their cities in the next couple of months.

And this isn’t the first time that John has shows up in unexpected places, last year he did shows in both Moncton and St. John, even though their populations barely reach 100,000.

Why is this so cool? Because most Canadian bands don’t even visit these places, (we’re talking to you Tragically Hip). Over the years, there have been countless examples of “Canadian Tours” that include only five or six provinces. Elton John has discovered that many of these smaller cities have fans that are just as ravenous as the bigger and often snobbier metropolises, thus making for more exciting, appreciative and passionate audiences.

Take note musicians.
