Look, I’m not going to write this giant blog post telling you why you should participate in Earth Hour tomorrow. Can you just do it? Simply put, don’t be an asshole. It is an hour of your time. Most of you spend that time playing Farmville. Just turn everything off and stand outside. That’s the simplest way to participate.
But if you are looking to something a little more interesting with you hour in darkness, here are some ideas!
- Go to McDonald‘s: The lights will be on inside, but the fast food giant’s 1400 restaurants will be dimming their giant outdoor M’s for the entire hour.
- If you are in Vancouver, check out Commercial Drive. A ton of their restaurants will be celebrating with Earth Hour Candlelight Dinner and Drinks. (That’s where I’ll be.)
- In Halifax, you’ll be able to take in a FREE Sons of Maxwell concert!
- Toronto might be the place to be, with a free concert that will include Chantal Kreviazuk, Jarvis Chrch and Justin Nozuka.
- Powell River, BC. is having a free swim and skate during Earth Hour. This makes me a little nervous, but I’ll go with it.
- In Ottawa they’ll be having a Candlelight Vigil on Parliament Hill.
- Still don’t know what you are going to do? Download the WWF Toolkit for helpful tips and ideas.
- Calgary has barely scraped together a plan. Their website says ” join the action at Olympic Plaza as Calgarians countdown to darkness”. No other details are provided.
If you town or city is doing something cool, let me know and I’ll be sure to pass it on!
