Woah! These Olympic people are intense!

The flame that will be carried 45,000km across Canada en route to the Olympic Opening ceremony in Vancouver was lit today in Athens. It starts its trek in Canada next Friday, but not being being dragged all over Greece.
The historic ceremony, steeped in Greek tradition, involved a prayer of peace, the presentation of an olive branch and the release of a snow white dove. Afterwards, everyone talked really loudly and ate souvlaki. The flame will actually be the same one brought into the stadium 113 days from now! Isn’t that crazy? Meanwhile, I can’t bring my $6 coffee onto a plane, but the Olympics can bring fire? Doesn’t seem right, does it? Let me guess: they also get the emergency.
Fun Fact: the forthcoming torch relay will be the longest in Olympic history!
