After last year’s Garth Brooks concert, I always wondered how the Calgary Stampede would top it for this year’s concert series.  Well, somehow, they did it.

The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth announced this morning that The Dixie Chicks will be coming to Calgary on July 12th!

I almost dropped my phone when I found out. I mean, this is literally how you top Garth Brooks.

It’s been seven long years since Natalie, Emilie and Martie brought their particular brand of politically inspired pop/country hybrid music to Calgary and they absence has certainly been felt. But not just here in Calgary.  2006 was also the last time the group put out an album, which is practically forever in this day in age.  Taking The Long Way Round helped the group win five Grammys and since then, they’ve been mysteriously quiet.

But Calgarians are they only ones! The Dixie Chicks will also be playing the Cavendish Beach Festival in P.E.I. and the Craven Country Jamboree in Craven, Sask.

Individual tickets range from $49.50-$160 and go on sale to the public on Saturday, February 9 at 10 a.m.
Pre-sale tickets for Stampede Insiders go on sale Wednesday, February 6 at 10 a.m.

Stampede hasn’t made any particular announcements about their efforts to cut down on scalping, but hopefully something happens, to avoid the same problems that took place last year with Garth Brooks.

Admittedly, it’s been a while since I’ve listened to the Dixie Chicks, but one listen of  “I’m Not ready to Make Nice” and I’m back to being the super fan I once was.

This is fantastic!

  2. The next time I read a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I mean, I know it was my choice to read, but I actually thought youd have something interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you could fix if you werent too busy looking for attention.
