When Calgary Expo hits us every April and we start seeing Stormtroopers and Pokemon on the c-train many say it’s like ‘Nerd Christmas’. Now, thanks to the good geeks over at Calgary Expo, we can actually enjoy fandom and pop culture AT Christmas, at the Calgary Expo Holiday Market. If you’ve never been, it’s like a mini-expo without the celebrities and panels. It’s also much cheaper – just $10 for adults and kids get in free.Â
It’s got awesome shopping featuring hundreds of booths you might find at Calgary Expo selling potential presents for the nerd on your list or holiday crafts with a geek spin (think Tardis bow-tie or Death Star ornament). There is usually a well-stocked collection of comic books, board games, and collectibles.
They even bring in Santa and his Stormtroopers for Photo Ops (all by cash donation, for charity). They’re also asking folks this year to bring donations of new winter footwear for all ages, to donate to Inn from the Cold.
Pro-Tip: Tickets to Calgary Expo will be on sale this November, but the only chance to get PHYSICAL tickets is the 2019 Expo (for those of you already buying Christmas presents) is at the Holiday Market.
