This one is for all of you in Calgary!
I wanted to let you know about this really cool event happening on Friday night. It’s called the Thrill of the Grill Lobster BBQ kickoff, and here’s really what all you need to know: Lobster Dinner (IN ALBERTA) for $50. Okay, there’s more to the story, but I’m sorta stuck on the fact that I’m going to be having lobster while in Calgary. It’s been a dream of mine.
The Thrill of The Grill is a fantastic evening that will see the Delta’s top Calgary-area chefs battle each other in an Iron Chef-type challenge…and here’s the kicker: I’m a judge. That’s right, I get to judge the food from some of this city’s best chefs. It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it, right?
But there’s more to the evening than just watching me eat lobster, the entire evening is in support of Habitat for Humanity, a charity so impressive, it needs no explanation. Those craving a fantastic meal for an even better cause, can visit it the Habitat for Humanity website for all the information. $50 gets you a lobster dinner, a pint of Wildrose Beer (and the mug!), Spolumbo’s sausage, corn on the cob, salads and evening of dancing provided by the musical stylings of The Turbines.
I was actually in the Thrill of the Grill last year and helped Chef John McCain (from the Delta Airport…not Die Hard) take the top spot. This year, I’ll be judging, but I think McCain has already been working on the perfect recipe.
Either way, it’s going to be a great evening, hope to see everyone there.
