When is it too soon to watch Christmas movies?
This is the question I have been struggling with since these yuletide flicks starting showing up in my mailbox a couple of weeks ago. Before you answer, I need for you to understand how much I love Christmas movies. Of course, I don’t mean any christmas movie, there are a ton of crap ones that make me wish I was jewish (The Family Stone, The Holiday), but there are countless great Christmas movies out there and I hate that society says I can only watch them once a year.
Obviously, Love, Actually is in a beautiful glass-incased category of it’s own. But what about other classics like Miracle on 34th St and the Home Alone 1 and 2? Why should I only be able to enjoy the company of Susan Walker and Kevin McCallister when there is a Christmas Tree in the room?

And don’t even get me started on National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Chevy Chase and the those old people are funny 12 months of the year. That is why that DVD sits on top of my DVD player year-round, ready to be played at any moment of the day. And it is, oh how it is.
