Wow!  Another day, another Canadian reality show!  Sadly…it (still) isn’t a Cancuck edition of Survivor or The Amazing Race, but we’ll take what we can get.

CBC just announced a brand new show called Cover Me Canada and auditions for aspiring and unsigned musicians opened today!  The network is asking anyone that thinks they have the singing chops to submit their original versions of classic Canadian songs, with the eventual winner taking home $100,000 and a single that will be released by Universal Record.

Bloody hell I wish I could sing…or dance…or grow hair.

Ambitious Canadian musicians and groups aged 12 and up who are not signed to a recording contract are invited to submit video performances of their cover versions of one of the following Canadian classics: Sundown (Gordon Lightfoot), Run To You (Bryan Adams), Life is a Highway (Tom Cochrane) and Black Velvet (Alannah Myles).

Sadly, songs by The Moffatts, Snow, B4-4 and Sugar Jones didn’t make the cut.  Who runs these contests anyway?!

Auditions are open now until July 8th!  Click here to apply.
