Lots of people know Meaghan Mikkelson as a Canadian women’s hockey team defenceman, but if you’re like me, you know her from her amazing second place finish on the second season of The Amazing Race Canada.
But this summer, the two-time Olympic gold medallist and her husband Scott Reid did something more adventerous than the Olympics and reality shows combined! They let Twitter name their baby!
And this morning, the name was revealed!
Mikkelson and Reid announced on Periscope (naturally) that their son would be named Calder. The name won out with more than 3,500 votes. Does Calgary have anything to do with the Calder Cup, which is the trophy awarded annually to the champions of the American Hockey League? Who knows, you’ll have to ask someone that watches sports to tell you that, but I’m just relieved! Calder is actually a great name.

According to Sportsnet, other suggestions included Molson, Gretzky, Ziam, Flash and Stryder. Calder is definitely the best option!
