Today is the launch one of my favourite initiatives that I get the opportunity to be a part of!
It’s called the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank Empty Bowl Benefit and it’s great fundraiser for an amazing cause. What I love about the food bank is that at some point in our lives, we will know someone that has needed and used the service. Whether it’s a family member, our friends or even ourselves. It’s a charity will always need our support and if I help raise even a little bit of money, I would feel honoured.
So what’s the Empty Bowl Benefit? Well last week a bunch of Calgary’s celebs and media personalities gathered together to paint bowls for the auction. All the money from the auction goes to the food bank. So you donate the money, collect some cool art and the Food Bank benefits from your donation. It’s win win! There was a lot of very talented people, painting some very impressive bowls. But let’s face it, I’m not a celebrity and I’m not that talented, so I’ve had to sweeten my bowl with some extra little goodies for the winner.  This year, the highest bidder on my bowl will get themselves:
-An Unlocked Blackberry Bold from Virgin Mobile. (website)
-Two Tickets to The Calgary Folk Music Festival for Friday. (website)
-Two Tickets to Vertigo Theatre‘s production of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. (website)
If the highest bidder goes to someone outside of Calgary, I’ll happily donate the tickets to my favourite charity, Kids Up Front.
When the auction closes at 11:59pm on Monday, May 9, the highest bidder of each work of art will take home a unique piece designed by one of their favourite Calgary celeb’s or me, knowing that they will also be helping feed hungry Calgarians.
So take a look at my bowl and let maybe a make a bid or two!
