William Shatner! Felicia Day! Dr. McNinja! Once upon a time, the Comic Expo might have been the realm of the Simpsons’ Comic Book Guy, but these days, it’s got something for everyone. And the best part? Not only is there a CRAZY 3-day exposition, with merchandise and panels and autographs, but it’s spawned all kinds of special events, including a screening of The Exorcist with Linda Blair, a Macabre Masquerade hosted by Elvira, a cabaret with Ed the Sock and a Zombie Vs. Superheroes Roller Derby!
Cyclepalooza June 17-26
Three cheers for alternative transportation! Cyclepalooza is a crowd-sourced festival of bicycle fun, featuring everything from a city-wide Spy Vs. Spy battle, an Ice Cream Ride, short bicycle films, a solstice ride and more. If you love two-wheel transportation, or if you’re just looking for an excuse to pull your bike out of storage, this is a quirky excuse to get your cycle on!

Okay, this is clearly a case of shameless self-promotion, since I’m a writer and producer on this show, and robots have utterly consumed my life for the past couple months. Hear me out, though: in a world where robots inhabit every household, Dream Corp is developing a line of advanced androids that will revolutionize robotics. But as the mysterious Infanta Virus starts killing robots, the fate of these new androids is thrust into chaos! Plus, you get to see a group of incredibly talented actors doing a show about robots in a church basement. The whole thing just screams awesome.
