All this week, Mike’s Bloggity Blog will be celebrating Valentine’s Day with a special series called Bloggity Dates. Every day, some of the biggest names in Canadian entertainment will be dropping by to share stories of their best, worst and most embarrassing dates. If I were you, I’d take notes to ensure you have a perfect Valentine’s Day. Just be sure to invite me to the wedding.

Natalie Lisinska from CBC TV’s InSecurity

One the nicest dates I’ve ever been on was very simple and was never really intended to be a date at all. I had just bought a new car, and the process had been long and drawn out. He showed up with a tiny little bottle of champagne to celebrate, and then took me to see the Social Network. Afterwords, we were both so jazzed about the movie that we just kept walking and talking. We walked along Queen Street West and stumbled across La Palette in its new location. We paused and looked up at it, commented that it had moved from Kensington Market, hesitated, and then walked on.

A few blocks later we were sitting awkwardly in another restaurant about to order, when we both admitted that we wanted to go back to La Palette. We went running back up the street, and got ourselves a table just as a 6 piece brass band stood up on the bar and started performing. People from the audience would make up a title, and then the band would improvise a song! We drank red wine and watched the craziness. At the end of the evening, he walked me home like a gentleman, but thankfully didn’t refrain from giving me a goodnight kiss. The next day I couldn’t stop smiling.

InSecurity airs tonight on CBC.
