All this week, Mike’s Bloggity Blog will be celebrating Valentine’s Day with a special series called Bloggity Dates. Every day, some of the biggest names in Canadian entertainment will be dropping by to share stories of their best, worst and most embarrassing dates. If I were you, I’d take notes to ensure you have a perfect Valentine’s Day. Just be sure to invite me to the wedding.

Wipeout Canada’s Jonathan Torrens

The following story is entirely true and incredibly unflattering:

Many years ago, i was on a first date with a lovely gal who worked at the same place as me.

Mistake number one – never bake your bread where you buy your meat.

So we’re out for greek food and the conversation is as lively as the food is delicious. For some reason, i order a glass of milk to go with our taramosalata, hummous and tzatziki.
On the way back to her tiny bachelor apartment, we stop at blockbuster to rent The Perfect Storm.
Suffice to say by the time we were cozied up on her couch watching the opening titles of the movie, a perfect storm of its own was brewing in my tummy.

I excused myself and retreated to her tiny restroom…For a full hour. I ran the shower. I turned the taps on and off. I cleared my throat. Whatever I could do to mask the challenges i was having a mere 9 feet (and 1 thin plywood door) Away from her.

When i emerged, armed with an arsenal of “I’m so sorry – this has never happened before” excuses, she pretended to be asleep on the couch. I left…And we never spoke again.

Wipeout Canada premieres this Spring on TVTropolis!
