This is a festival based on local independent artists and groups to share the stage with national and international independent artist. Lots of different ways to check out the shows. 99$/festival pass. $199/VIP Pass. Main site only passes and limited individual show tickets. Some of my favorites are Axis of Conversation, The Breeders, and Holy F*ck. Some buzzworthy Calgary bands are the Women and Hot Little Rocket,
Folk Fest
July 23rd and 26th
The Festival which takes place on Prices Island Park.If you are like me and sorta new to folk music, their website is amazing because it has a media player with songs from each and every artist. Some of my favorites include: Michael Franti and Spearhead, Sarah Harmer, Steven Page and Chad Van Gaalen.
Jazz Fest
June 22-28th.
Venues all over the city.
This is a great festival and timely for father’s day.

Shakespeare in the Park
July 3rd to Aug 22nd
Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged and Shakespeare’s in Love.

Streets Fests
These are great because you can get out and try lots of different food and they are all free! What is better? A couple of tips include: leave the strollers and pets at home.

96th Barn Birthday Celebration & Family Festival
June 27th
Stuff for the whole family including magicians and a barn dance and dinner. And you get to camp right on site….you can really enjoy the night!

Since they haven’t acknowledge that there will actually be a festival, this has become Calgary’s most mysterious festival. Heck we don’t even know if it will be in Calgary.
