There was a time when I would have killed to regularly watch British TV shows. Sometimes I feel like I was born in England, but was magically transported to Canada before I developed a memory. It wasn’t that long ago that our access to UK TV shows waiting for them to show up on VHS at your local music store…okay, maybe that was a while ago. But it’s never really been easy watch shows from across the pond, until now.
BritBox TV has just recently launched in Canada. Admittedly, I don’t recognize a ton of the shows, but I have no doubt this will be really exciting for a lot of TV and Brit fans! Plus what an opportunity to discover all the shows I’ve been missing out on. The service is provided by BBC Worldwide and ITV and it includes the largest collection of British TV available in the market today.
What’s really great about BritBox is that fans will able to watch new hit series available shortly after their UK broadcast. As you know, we usually have to wait weeks, months or sometimes years for shows to cross the Atlantic. Some of the shows include Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, The Papers, PMQ (Prime Minister Questions), Emmerdale, Holby City, and Casualty.
More options include classic Doctor Who episodes. Actually Britbox features the largest digital catalogue of the long-running series. There’s also shows like Torchwood, Keeping Up Appearances and Poirot.
Some of the shows coming in month include: 300 Years of French and Saunders, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Gardeners’ World which is celebrating its 50th year on the air and Midsomer Murders
BritBox is now available to Canadians for $8.99 per month, after a 7-day introductory free trial period, through web, iPhone, iPad, android phone & tablets, Apple TV, Chromecast, and Roku®.
